FAA removes aircraft recommendation concerning solar storm
AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2003 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) removes recommendation that aircraft fly below 25,000 feet at latitudes above 35 degrees north and south.
The administration had issued the recommendation on Wednesday (29 October) due to possible high radiation doses because of a solar storm. However, the agency removed the alert yesterday (29 October) saying that radiation levels were not excessive.
Meanwhile, aircraft had been experiencing some disruptions in high frequency radio communications due to solar flares.
