SMUD to Construct New Homes With Solar Power Systems
The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) recently announced it has broken ground on 32 new Zero-Energy Homes that include two-kilowatt solar power roofs as a standard feature.
According to SMUD, the houses, located in the Treasure Homes' new Fallen Leaf @ Riverbend community in North Natomas, CA, also feature energy-efficient appliances, windows and lighting.
SMUD noted that the Zero-Energy Home, which it developed in collaboration with local builders, is capable of reducing annual energy bills by as much as 60 percent.
