Energy Conversion Devices, Inc. subsidiary United Solar Ovonic, LLC (Uni-Solar Ovonic) recently announced that photovoltaic (PV) roofing systems manufacturer Solar Integrated Technologies (SIT) has partnered with GE Commercial Finance Energy Financial Services to fund SIT's solar roofing projects which utilize Uni-Solar Ovonic's flexible photovoltaic laminates.
According to Uni-Solar Ovonic, the first project will include a contract with San Diego City schools to install more than two megawatts of solar roofs.
"Our robust and flexible thin-film solar cells are ideally suited for building integrated photovoltaics, and we are delighted to work with SIT to address the market," said Uni-Solar Ovonic chairman and CEO Stanford Ovshinsky. "We are doubling our production capacity to address the requirements of SIT and our other important customers around the world."
