Control valves solve vibration/corrosion problems
Amot 25000 Series solenoid-operated pneumatic control valves have provided a rapid solution to vibration and corrosion problems for a manufacturer of diesel engine generator sets being used to power hydraulic power packs for controlling offshore wellhead control panels, sub-sea actuators and two hydraulic lifting winches. High vibration was previously being transmitted to the engine's emergency shut-down instrument panel, generating premature tripping of the existing solenoid valves. Harsh offshore conditions were also causing excessive internal and external corrosion, and frequent product failure caused by the high discharge velocity of exhausting process air.
The 25000 Series is an EExd flameproof control valve off all stainless steel construction, with an epoxy coating on the solenoid coil housing giving additional corrosion protection.
Viton seals supported by an acetal back-up ring help prevent seal blow-out at high discharge velocities.
Ability to mount the valves in any position, without affecting operation or performance, was a further benefit in providing the fast and effective installation required to solve the site problems without delay.
A compact lightweight design proved an added advantage by needing less room than comparable valves, while still offering high IP66 ingress protection.
The solenoid operators can be rotated through four 90deg increments, which eased electrical connection and cable routing, while the availability of either normally open, normally closed, mixing or diverting operation on the same valve reduces inventory levels, thus aiding fast delivery for customer satisfaction.
