Combined pneumatic soft start and dump valve

Parker Pneumatic has introduced the new P3E-T single unit combined soft start and dump valve - which achieves a 50% space saving over the usual two valve options currently available - and ensures reliable control of air supply to pneumatic systems. The new P3E-T combined soft start and dump valve is simple to install, requires no additional lubrication and is designed to integrate with Parker Pneumatic's Maxi Modular FRL range. It may be combined with other Maxi Modular units as combination FRLs or used as a stand alone unit.
When air is exhausted from a pneumatic system, cylinders can occupy any arbitrary position, particularly after an emergency stop.
This, combined with the fact that the cylinder chambers are vented when the system is restarted, can give rise to sudden 'jerky' movements with the ensuing risk of damage to machinery or injury to personnel.
By using the smooth starting P3E-T valve, these risks are eliminated.
When the P3E-T valve is operated, the system is gradually supplied with air via an adjustable throttle incorporated in the valve.
This feature causes cylinders to move at a low pressure to their signalled positions.
When the system pressure reaches approximately 450 kPa (4.5 bar), the main spool opens permitting full air flow at mains pressure.
The bleed rate for controlling the soft start function is fully adjustable whilst piloting can be via a low power solenoid, CNOMO solenoid or air pilot signal.
A large bore exhaust ensures that unloading of air in the pneumatic system is rapid once the pilot signal is removed.
